FUSE prefers to access content through APIs to obtain valuable metadata and taxonomy that yield filters and powerful personalization features.
However, FUSE can:
- fetch content via RSS feed, data dump (e.g. cloud drive, SFTP), or similar structured method/format
- crawl and/or scrape a content source.
FUSE supports authentication for both of these methods if required. Crawling/scraping isn't as reliable as retrieving content in a structured way (i.e. API or method # 1) which often yields inconsistent output. FUSE can often mitigate the inconsistences with additional processing and parsing.
